New Market is a small historic town in eastern Frederick County, known for the antique shops along its Main Street, the old National Road. Around it are newer neighborhoods, including the communities near Lake Linganore, where many homes were built in the last few decades. The town's older buildings and its newer subdivisions bring very different plumbing, from aging supply lines to builder-grade fixtures nearing replacement. We are based in Leesburg, VA, and also serve nearby Walkersville and Green Valley. See the full map on our service area page.

HOT WATER

Tankless Heaters, Tank Heaters and Expansion Tanks

Tankless water heaters come up often in New Market. They heat water only when a tap opens, take up a fraction of the space of a tank and never run out mid-shower. They also need periodic descaling, especially with hard water, and an error code on the display usually points to a specific fault we can trace. Learn more on our tankless water heater page. Traditional tank heaters still make sense for many homes. When one starts leaking or stops heating, we talk through repair versus replacement and what each would involve. Whichever type you have, the expansion tank matters. On a closed system, heated water has nowhere to expand, which strains the heater, the relief valve and every fixture in the house. We check the expansion tank whenever we work on a water heater and install one where it is missing.

HEATING AND COOLING

Air Conditioning and Heat for New Market Homes

Our HVAC side handles air conditioners, heat pumps and furnaces, from routine maintenance to full replacement. Most summer calls involve a failed capacitor, a clogged condensate drain or a refrigerant leak, and our AC repair technicians test each of those before recommending anything. A heat pump that struggles to cool will usually struggle to heat as well, so we look at the outdoor coil, fan and refrigerant circuit as a whole. In winter, we repair furnaces and heat pumps and inspect the controls that keep them running safely. We also serve businesses in the area. Our services page lists every type of work we offer.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my tankless water heater giving me cold water bursts?
Short bursts of cold water between hot are often called a cold water sandwich, and they are a normal trait of many tankless units when a tap is turned off and quickly back on. Steady loss of heat is different. It can come from scale buildup on the heat exchanger, a clogged inlet filter, low gas supply or a flow rate too low to trigger the burner. Descaling and a filter check solve many cases.
Do I need an expansion tank on my water heater?
If your home has a check valve or pressure-reducing valve on the main line, it most likely does. Those valves create a closed system where heated water cannot push back into the street line, so pressure climbs every time the heater runs. An expansion tank gives that water somewhere to go. Many codes require one with new water heater installs, and we check what applies to your home.
Can you replace a bathroom faucet without replacing the sink?
Usually, yes. Most bathroom faucets mount through holes in the sink or counter, and a replacement only needs to match the hole layout, whether single-hole, centerset or widespread. We remove the old faucet, clean the mounting surface, install the new one and replace the supply lines if they are worn. If the shutoff valves under the sink do not close fully, we can replace those too.
How do I know if a clog is in the main sewer line?
If more than one fixture backs up at the same time, or water comes up in a tub or floor drain when you flush a toilet, the clog is likely in the main line. Clogs in a single drain usually affect only that fixture. Stop using water and call a plumber, since a main line backup can push sewage into the lowest drains of the house.
Do you work on homes near Lake Linganore?
Yes. The neighborhoods around Lake Linganore are part of the New Market area we serve, along with the town itself and nearby communities in eastern Frederick County. We handle plumbing and HVAC calls there 24/7 with no overtime fees. Call with your address and a description of the problem to get started.
